Temperature monitoring for food and pharmacy

The problem is rarely the cold itself — it is proving it. The room works, but when the inspection arrives you have to produce a history, and what exists is a sheet filled in by hand twice a day, whenever somebody remembered.

- Quick-frozen food: Regulation (EC) No 37/2005 requires air temperature to be monitored in means of transport and in storage and warehousing premises, with instruments conforming to EN 12830, and those records to be kept.
- In Spain, additionally: Order ITC/3701/2006 places temperature recorders and thermometers for temperature-controlled products under State metrological control. Not just any device that reads degrees will do.
- Other chilled product: Regulation (EC) No 852/2004 does not tell you which device to buy, but it does require a self-control system based on HACCP. Temperature recording is the usual way of demonstrating that the control exists.

Where the data lives
If the device uploads readings to a cloud, the European buyer will ask which jurisdiction hosts them. Having an answer — and EU hosting — stops being a technical detail and becomes a sales argument.
What we do with all of that
We turn it into a list of what you are missing, and we stay with you through it: we review the technical documentation you already have, point out the gaps against what the EU requires, and act as your counterpart in Spain while they are closed. Then we look for the first distributors — and once the product is ready for Europe, we present it to distributors in Canada as well.

Because those are the three places where we have real counterparts: factories in China we have already worked with, the Spanish market we know first-hand, and commercial contacts in Canada. We do not plant a flag on the map where nobody answers on the other side.

Does SGI manufacture the equipment?
No. We represent the manufacturers. Our job is to select and verify the factory, check that its device meets what European regulation demands, and carry the commercial relationship in Spain. The manufacturer builds it; we are the ones who answer you in your language and your time zone.
Which standard must a temperature recorder meet in Spain?
For quick-frozen food, Regulation (EC) No 37/2005 requires air temperature to be recorded in transport and storage, using instruments conforming to EN 12830, and those records to be kept. In Spain, Order ITC/3701/2006 additionally places those recorders and thermometers under State metrological control. For other chilled product the obligation comes through the HACCP self-control system of Regulation (EC) No 852/2004: you must be able to demonstrate control, and recording is the practical way to demonstrate it.
How many measuring points do we need?
It depends on the site, and we are not going to give you a number over the phone. What we can tell you is which questions have to be answered before buying anything: how many rooms and of what type, whether you run your own vehicles, the distance from the furthest point to the receiver, and how much history your inspector asks for. That is what sizes an installation; without it, any quote is an invented number.
Do you only work with Chinese manufacturers?
That is where our network is and where we find the best value, but the criterion is not the country: it is that the supplier is an actual factory and not a middleman, that the device meets European regulation, and that somebody is there when something fails. If a European manufacturer fits a project better, we say so.
